both worlds

botanicalgardens-1 The saddest part of selling our first house was leaving our wonderful neighbors.  Fortunately, we have only moved two miles away, and have been able to meet for playdates fairly regularly.  These photos are from our visit to the Botanical Gardens last month (but we also met our friends there this morning).   I am so thankful for this friendship and for the friendship between our kids.

The San Antonio Botanical Gardens currently has an exhibit of kid-sized birdhouses.  Some are formally inspired by birdhouses, a few have an educational or interactive focus, and one is a giant cuckoo clock.  All are designed by local artists and architects.  My friend Patrick designed the structure in these photos (the Gourd), and dozens of Overlanders pitched in to construct it in the office and on site.  You can read more about it here.  The kids absolutely loved playing in the Gourd.  If you live in San Antonio, check out the Bird Houses – they will be in the gardens until the end of June.botanicalgardens-3 botanicalgardens-5  botanicalgardens-7botanicalgardens-6botanicalgardens-2botanicalgardens-4
